He has had the distinct privilege of being a Tony® voter for the past 12 years. He was honored with a 2001 Emmy® Award for his involvement in the A&E Television Special “Peter Pan starring Cathy Rigby.” Payton’s Broadway producing credits include: DREAMGIRLS, FOOTLOOSE, GREASE, HIGH SOCIETY, LEGALLY BLONDE, Monty Python’s SPAMALOT, MOVIN’ OUT, Oprah Winfrey Presents THE COLOR PURPLE, starring Cathy Rigby in PETER PAN,THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE (for which he won a Tony® Award) and YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN.
